The following steps will tell you how to configure your operating system to use Falcon 4 in a LAN. It is required at this point that your NIC is working correctly.

All screenshots are taken from Microsoft Windows 98 Dutch language, but I'll explain everything in English. Please mail me if a screen or option name is wrong translated.

When an option says open, you should double click this item with your left mouse button.

  1. Open "My Computer"
    Double click on "My Computer"

  2. Open the "Control Panel"
    Open the "Control Panel"

  3. Open "Network"
    Open "Network"

  4. The following screen will be shown, component's you see may vary but you should see your NIC and, if you installed it, a dial up network adapter. Dial up network adapters are used for Internet and other remote networks that request connection by modem.

  5. Click once on your NIC with your left mouse button, then click the "Install" button.

  6. Select the option "client" and click "Install"

  7. Now select "Microsoft" in the left part and then select "Client for Microsoft Networks" in the right part and click OK:

  8. Check if the "Client for Microsoft Networks" is in the list (usually the first in the list) :

  9. If the client is added continue, otherwise go back to step 4.

  10. Click once on your NIC with your left mouse button, then click the "Install" button  :

  11. The following screen will be visible :

  12. Select the option "Protocol" and click "Install"

  13. Now select "Microsoft" in the left part and then select "TCP/IP" in the right part. Click "OK" to continue :

  14. Check if the TCP/IP is connected with "->" to your NIC

  15. If the protocol is added and connected continue, otherwise go back to step 10.

  16. Click Next to continue with step 17.
